I can talk about it now...
I was on the closed beta test team for this (Redshift was part of the small closed beta.... so nice to have a Googler in the group) (Wouldn't it be nice if I could invite my friends to beta test my stuff at work.... heheheh....), and it appears they've opened it up to the public now. Google Calendar is the most amazing online calendar program you can use. As soon as the traffic dies down (they seem to be overloaded right now), get on this service.

Edit 9:16am the next day

You have no idea how much easier it is to schedule rehearsals and concerts with this. Just look for the whitespace in everyone's calendars Yahoo Groups calendar can kiss CL2's shiny multicolored ass. Need to reschedule a rehearsal? Drag, drop, possibly resize, done.

Some small features which I liked which aren't being discussed in the buzz on the net yet:

* Ability to invite other people to an event, and have a Yes/No/Maybe response, just like evite. (Okay, Isaac noticed.)
* Adding a location automatically generates a link to the Google Map.
* Invitees can add comments with each event, like blog comments.
* Export/import to iCal, import from Outlook. (No PDA sync yet)
* RSS feeds of your calendar
* Ability to have multiple calendars

It's a lot like 30 Boxes, another excellent calendar site.

But this one integrates with GMail. Quite well if I may add. And it's more likely people will use Google Calendar than 30 Boxes just because of the company making it. And with more people using it... it's much easier to schedule things (like Spot rehearsals) with friends :-)

Yeah! Join it because it's popular! Let the inevitable popularity feed upon itself!

They never opened up SMS alerts during closed beta, but I've been wanting to test that.

I like 30 Boxes more. My brother's been using it for a long period of time already and i think it's just a matter of a habbit.
